Sen. Go leads groundbreaking of Samal super health center

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go led the groundbreaking of super health center in Samal town on Thursday. He was accompanied by Gov. Joet Garcia, Samal Mayor Alex Acuzar, Samal Vice Mayor Ronnie Ortiguerra, Bataan 1st District Congresswoman Geraldine Roman, and Bataan 1st District Board Member Tony Roman. Councilor Erval Flores, chairman of Samal SB committee on health, and other SB members, and DOH Region 3 officials also attended.

Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, pushed for the creation of super health centers across the country to improve the access of Filipinos to government health services. Super health center is a medium version of a polyclinic and an improved version of the rural health unit.

The senator said, “The center will definitely decongest our hospitals.” He said there are already two existing super health centers in Bataan, one in Mariveles and the other in Dinalupihan. Go said seven super health centers will be established in the entire province.

Acuzar thanked Go and the DOH for the project.

The municipal doctor said that DOH budgeted P10 million for the building of the super health center. He said that an additional amount of P2M is needed for medical equipment. Samal LGU provided the lot. Go also provided funds for Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development benefiting 500 poor in Samal and 1,000 in Balanga City. He personally witnessed the distribution of the financial assistance on Thursday.
